Okay so I need to find some tin or steel can for crafting, but have no idea where to look for this resource. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Actually it is scrap tin or scrap steel. I have noticed it seems to be a in high demand item.

In my experience I've never come across "scrap tin" or "scrap steel" there is Scrap Iron if you are looking for that.
