Where can I get mote of wisdom?

I gather that before it could only be obtained in Darkmoor, but now there are multiple sources?

I've been trying to farm Tonkatsu in Hollow mountain, but maybe that is the wrong place?

You're right, there are a few sources you can gather the reagent from. The source you are attempting to use is incorrect as that boss does not drop the reagent to my knowledge.

Try these alternatives:

Gardening - Ultra Dandelions drop the reagent at elder harvests (not commonly though).

Fishing - Fishing Chests only in the Pagoda of Harmony has chances of unveiling the reagent.

Bosses - These are the bosses that currently drop the reagent:

Temple Phantom
Ra
Krokopatra (Rank 14) & Rank 8
Takanobu the Masterless
Rattlebones (Rank 14) & Rank 7
Meowiarty (Rank 14) & Rank 12

Those are the current sources.
