You still only get one item for the reward. It is simply selected from a different set of items, similar to the holiday themed item sets. Whether the items are better is somewhat subjective. Some items are clearly better, such as 15 day temporary mounts instead of the usual 7 day. Others, such as statutes, are more debatable.

Rental mounts are useless you can not even sell them for gold
Rental mounts are not useless if you have a wizard who doesn't have a permanent mount. Further, even for wizards with a permanent mount, it is sometimes fun to switch to a temporary mount to ride around on for awhile. I was simply pointing out that a 15 day mount is "better" than a 7 day mount because you get to keep it longer. As I also noted, the value of daily assignment rewards is subjective. If it is something you want, need or don't have, it is great. If it is something you can't use or already have 10 of and have more gold than you need or can't sell it, it may be worthless to you.
