This happens if you have show more then hit less friends while having a friend up
Here's a gif of it happening: (link removed since it's against the rules ~Dworgyn) At first I thought it was because I was hitting one of the four bottom buttons too, but that isn't necessary. Just open friends, select a friend/more friends (order doesn't matter), then hit less friends.
