You must EQUIP your house, if you want to teleport to it. Go in to your backpack, click the housing tab with the arrow on it and voila! there's your house - now click on the house and select the closed fist icon to equip the house.
THEN you can recall to your new house.
If you want the prize, you have to build the ladder rung by rung. There are no shortcuts.
