I've checked Babbling Meints and Admiral Bontau in Mirage, Colonel Ivanenko in Polaris, and Deputy Fife in Mirage. Ivanenko and Deputy Fife still have their pets. Babbling Meints is missing his GobblerBall however, as well as Admiral Bontau his Desert Hawk. Their missing pets still cast spells in combat, however. It just doesn't display an animation.
