I was able to do that last month with my Legendary Storm when he had his Spell/Pet quest; but before he did the main line quest and broke the ice wall. I know that it does block some wizards because a Level 51 Balance friend of mine could not pass through it when we were there just farming for gold.
I noticed this when i got the level 55 spell quest and passed through it before i'd gotten the quest to smash it. I just figured KI was being nice. -corwin sandstalker, legendary sorcerer (and crew)
