Countries Where Wizard101 and Pirate101 Game Access is Restricted

Community,

Our apologies for the uncertainty regarding recent news of embargoed countries. We wanted to clarify what’s been happening and why.

US Federal Law has prevented products like our Wizard101 and Pirate101 games from being accessed from certain countries. If those games are accessed in those countries and we do nothing to halt those actions, it could mean significant challenges for us including the very existence of the games.

Countries and regions where Wizard101 and Pirate101 are currently inaccessible are:
  • Belarus
  • Crimea
  • Cuba
  • Iran
  • North Korea
  • Russia
  • Sudan
This list may change at any point. We will do our best to inform the community of newly embargoed countries when they are announced to us.

Accounts only need to access the games once in their account lifetime to be flagged. This also includes “self-identified” actions, such as entering in billing information reflecting one of the above countries, even if you never access the game itself from that account.

If you have any doubts from where you are accessing the game, please check with your service provider. We also discourage use of a VPN if you are not sure it is from or passing through one of these countries.

To be clear, we never indiscriminately take any action on player accounts. We carefully review each occurrence and only act when it’s clear the account met criteria as noted above. Account closures are immediate to ensure account safety and that we are not delaying in complying with US Federal Law.

For legal questions and concerns, we recommend researching the restrictions online if you would like to learn in more detail why they prevent us from limiting game access. As much as it pains us to remove game access to players, please understand we're not able to avoid these restrictions and are bound to comply with US Federal law.

For the latest in US Sanctions programs and country information, visit this website.

Thank you for your understanding. We care very much for our community and want to ensure all players are aware of these restrictions so you can access the game safely and securely where possible.

Hi Sparck,

Thank you for the needed information. I understand all the given info you've said, just one thing regarding billing addresses. Now, I recall from years ago, I entered a billing address which technically didn't exist, however, since then it has been updated. As said, this was done because of pure naivety because I didn't trust filling in my address. The initial address was in a language that the team who does those lookups and bans would not understand, but I evidently did.

Is there a way to review this, to actually get the account back. As it stands, it doesn't state anywhere that falsifying a billing address is denied, but it does make sense that it would be, mind you I was younger and less secure about internet purchases. Nowhere does it say it is illegal to provide a fake billing address, but I'd appreciate clarity on this subject.

Many thanks

Unfortunately billing information is also under the restriction, both past and present. We have to be very careful here in complying with the law, so your account may have been banned by using an address or credit card as being from one of the embargoed countries. Sorry :(.

Hi Sparck,

Thank you for your reply. I'll specify this to best of my ability. My billing address was in the country South Africa, which is not in your list of embargoed countries in the message on the forum. It was in a language that is spoken in South Africa, hence, not in English. As I mentioned, it is technically non existent considering it does not go by this name internationally. Now, I am asking for more clarity as your message fails to provide enough information surrounding my initial reply.

In conclusion, my billing address was not in an embargoed country, but in a country in which I put in Afrikaans, namely Suid Afrika, due to me not trusting the internet with my information.

Many thanks
