Well you don't have to be high level to beat everyone who is the same level as you. If you have a level 125 with a bunch of overpowered items that don't have a level limit, if you start a new guy he starts off with some crazy stuff that makes him much stronger than everyone else.

Most of them boosted, which is cheating.
Others probably having burning rampage and if you have burning rampage it is insanely easy to rank up
