i have done the boxes in Zafaria, Mooshu and Marlybone but can't get the Professor to talk to me in Wizard City or Avalon. i thought i moight not be a high enough level (i'm 76) for the avalon box, but then why won't he talk to me in Wizard city?
In Avalon you have to be level 80 or higher, otherwise you can't get the Professor to talk to you.
As for Wizard City, you might have spoken to him some time earlier. If you can see the sigils lit up down by the Bazaar, that means you already started the WC Boxes quest in the past, but you might not have finished the whole dungeon. Once you completely finish the Wizard City box, you earn the badge "Firestarter." So that's another way to check if you've already talked to the Professor and did the dungeon.
