Discussing Upcoming Level 120+ Storm and Fire Gear
Okay, so today, I looked at the level 120 Storm and Fire gear, and they seem to continue the trend started by Rat wands/hats/boots, in which Storm has slightly higher critical, while Fire has higher damage.
With the following sets of gear, Storm and Fire have the following damage, critical, pierce, resist, and health stats:
Malistaire's Cowl of Flux: +336 +7% Pierce +10% Resist +178 Critical Rating +20% Damage Malistaire's Cloak of Flux: +529 +12% Resist +115 Critical Rating +27% Damage (New) Time Warden Downpour Galesh(Thanks to The AtmoPlex for showing the stats): +714 +6% Resist +117 Critical Rating +28% Damage Majoris Curio of Fortitude: +68 Critical Rating +17% Damage Total: +1579 +28% Resist +7% Pierce +478 Critical Rating +92% Damage -----
Shroud of Malistaire's Ire: +420 +5% Pierce +11% Resist +165 Critical Rating +14% Damage Robes of Malistaire's Ire: +661 +14% Resist +106 Critical Rating +21% Damage (New) Time Warden Galesh of Pyres: +742 +5% Resist +105 Critical Rating +31% Damage Shimmering Majoris Artifact: +61 Critical Rating +19% Damage Total: +1823 +5% Pierce +30% Resist +437 Critical Rating +85% Damage --- As one can see, Fire is now only 7% behind Storm in damage, or only 5% if the hats are replaced with the new level 120 ones. In addition, they have +244 more max health(+180 with level 120 hats), and 2% more resist(1% with level 120 hats). However, Storm still has 41 more critical(42 with level 120 hats), 2% more pierce(1% with level 120 hats), and higher base damage on level 100, 108, and 118 spells.
So question, is having more critical and pierce worth having Fire catch up and possibly surpassing Storm in both damage and health later on? There was an old thread on Wizard101 Central that complained about this regarding level 110 Rat Gear, not sure if that's still relevant.

Definitely a problem unless the Storm school gets compensated in some way. For threads and debates on this issue see here(organized from most recent back)
