Well, the best way balance wins is usually through defense - through shields from all of the schools. I have seen many balances win PvP through casting elemental shields and spirit shields. So I guess just pack a lot of shields and a heavy attack to finish it off.
In 2nd age you won't get to 2000. In third age you'll wanna level up to exalted, get full Darkmoor gear, a good pet, and full jewels. Go to duelist101 and read their exalted balance guides. That might give you a prayer of getting 2000 ranking. Even then the odds are slim.
