I have friends who want to gift me crowns items but I don't like accepting gifts when it comes to people using their very real money. If I reject a gifted pack or item does that pack or the crowns return to that player or are the crowns/ gifts lost forever?
You cannot decline an item that is gifted to you. Items gifted will remain in the Gift Window until you claim them. The Crowns are spent when the purchase is made, not when it is claimed from the Gift Window. No Crowns are refunded when a gifted item is deleted or used up.
