going first in battle

when i'm doing a side quest to defeat enemies i want to do it quick by going first in the duel so i get the upperhand in battle. but i always go last.

does anyone know the secret to going first in a duel. do you have to be the last one to go to a circle? or first on? or is it just by luck

There is no secret or trick, it's totally random

yeah sorry, there's no way to control it.
you'll notice that the game has many ways to stall your progress just for the $$$$.
you can't blame KI for it but it's how it is.
