Henchmen?

I was just wondering when you buy a henchmen do you keep it forever to help you or not, and also what do they do?

Henchmen last until they are defeated or until the end of the current battle. They cast spells much the same as minions. They will heal, attack, boost, all randomly controlled by the AI.
