How Long Is Your Loading Screen?

I play Wizard101 on a Macbook Air, and I notice that when I'm playing with a group of friends, they always get to places faster than I do. My loading screen takes about 10 seconds, and it's annoying when moving around especially when falling behind from friends during a dungeon like pagoda or bane.

How long does your loading screen take? Is there any way I can speed up mine?

I also notice that when casually moving around, the screen freezes for a split second, about every 3 seconds. And discarding spells in battle is a pain, for each discard/enchant, the screen freezes for one second. It's really annoying, but I'm glad that I never lose connection.

Well, only way to make it faster is to have better internet.

I second a faster Loading screen. Takes me About 2-5 seconds to load each zone. Btw the screen your speaking of is called a transitional Page. Thats the page that loads when you go from one area to another. Kingsisle hasn't changed that screens picture in years. Be nice to have a different one. A different page maybe Morganthe or Malistare or something. Anyways would be great If they could make it quicker going from area to area more Flashy instead of folding from the right hand corner. But that's off topic my apologies.

Sounds like your internet is slow or you are using a wireless connection with a weak signal. Try changing rooms to one that is closer to the modem/wireless router.

It's got nothing to do with internet speed. It's a cpu load issue with w101. It regularly uses 200+% load on my i7. I have 100 mbit internet, that's not the issue. There are definite performance issues on Macs after the last several updates. Kingsisle seems to assume that players do not mutli-task and just says close everything else. That not a solution AND it doesn't offer any significant benefit. The only thing that helps is quitting the game at least once an hour and do not frequently switch between wizards. The longer the game remains open the worse it gets. If it continues to be ignored it will make the game unplayable by Mac players. It's been about 2 years since they have updated the Mac version. It's time to revisit it.

When you say on your i7, am I to assume you're running a mac as well? Just wondering because on my windows i7, everything is hunky dory. And I'm curious as to how you are certain that it has nothing to do with a networking issue? Bandwidth and latency problems would easily account for this issue.

Yes I'm on a Mac and I say it's not a networking issue because it runs perfectly fine on Windows 8.1 on the same network, even with less memory and cpu. The Mac port of it hasn't been updated in 2 years and it's getting worse with every new update to game that is added. It's the same at my In-laws' home. Runs fine on Windows, lags on Macs.

I downloaded the Windows version of my Mac (which costed money to be able to cross over Windows applications to Mac) and the Windows version loads a lot faster on my Mac. I think the iOS version of Wizard101 needs to be fixed and reviewed as well.

I haven't used the Windows version in Crossover since the Mac download was stabilized. Thanks for the reminder of that option. It runs 1000x smoother, no-hiccups or freezing up. They most definitely need to look over the Mac version.
