I am a level 83 Balance wizard. I sometimes see people say that balance has op damage, but I can still never get my Ra to get over 2,500 damage, and I don't see how that is op. Is there something I am missing, as far as traps, blades or armor? I mean it takes up to eight rounds to build chimera up to 1,000 damage each head, and that is only if the enemy is elemental. if you are a Balance wizard, I could use tips on how to raise my damage.
A third round Ra with a trained blade, colossal, and a hex on the primary target should hit for about 2300-2600 damage, assuming you have Waterworks or similar gear and decent accessories. My level 70 Balance has 73 damage boost (including 6% from pet) in all around build.
If you need a bigger hit you can stack a pet or amulet blade, or a feint. In a few more levels you'll be able to train Sharpen Blade and Potent Trap which will add %10 to your buffs.

Hey grace What gear do you use? Waterworks hane fine damage and crafted gear If you craft rings and athems they are better than bazzar. Maybe try to use waterworks gear with crafted rings and athame. Or if you want use the crafted gear with it has good critical. (Crafted gear in Avalon or Azteca)

i'd be more than happy to help. but i need some more info first:
-what are your stats now? -what gear/pet/etc. do you have equipped? -what talents does your pet have? -have you trained any enhancements (sun/star spells)?
best way to raise damage is gear. if you have anything less than waterworks/wt crafted gear, you will need an upgrade. i also have a pet with add balance that i would be more than happy to hatch with you.
if you haven't got the astral spells, buy your points back right now and get them. leaving those out is a rookie move, and an expensive mistake (been there), but you won't make it again.
Use the Blades that you have, preferably spirit blades for chimera. Use the blade and trap treasure cards from bazaar to also gain power. Once in a while or rarely, there is a dragonblade in store. Better be quick to grab it. Use hex from balance section, and curse from death section. They both give +25% damage. Also spirit trap is handy. Hope my advice is helpful!

I am not balance but it would help if you list your full gear layout (Wand, athame, rings, robe, hat, boots, and pet)
Currently I do not have waterworks gear, because I have only been able to complete the dungeon once. Is this why I have low damage? I never thought that waterworks makes that big of a difference.

waterworks (or wintertusk crafted) gear makes a substantial difference, as far as all stats go, not just damage.
at your level, my (now-exalted) balance wizard had a damage boost of 76% (6% from pet) in full waterworks gear, with accessories that were mostly found as boss drops in avalon. however, the gear is not the only factor that can contribute to better stats, and it is certainly not the be-all, end-all. your pet and accessories can make a difference as well, hence why i and others have asked what yours are like.
if you have a central account (if not, it's free to make one at wizard101central.com), send me a message; if our time-zones match up, i'd be happy to meet with you in-game, either to work on gear/pet or for a few ww runs, since my level 73 life wizard still needs her hat.
until then, best of luck and (hopefully) see you in-game.
