why the reagent cap?

I'm just wondering this here. Why is there a reagent cap? Reason I'm wondering is because I reached said cap while collecting scrap metal to make some stinger of the scorpions for a quest and after I checked my reagents to see if I was actually collecting them, I found I'd actually not picked up any of them, and I'd been working to collect them for a while(thanks to Marleybone's narrow sidewalks forcing me into battle). So naturally I was annoyed. I'd just like to know why the reagent cap is in place.

--> I thought the reagent cap for each item was 999.

--> You only need 8 scrap iron to craft the Stinger of the Scorpion. How many were you planning to craft?

--> I have never come close to having an issue with reagent cap. Doesn't seem like a big issue to me. And I'm a grand-poobah crafter.

--> Didn't you post this almost exact same post on May25?

The reagent cap is 999. No one needs that many of any reagent. Go sell something.
As for Marleybone, again...take your time, slow down and watch how the mobs move. There is a pattern. You can easily get through Marleybone without ever getting pulled into a duel. I just did it yet again with my new Myth wizard.

Well I would be believe your answer is in your complaint....

if you and 30 million other wizards collected the same thing ( which I know they do ) They give you said Cap So the servers aren't over loaded with said saved Items.... the more you hoard the more the servers are slowed....

Thanks For Reading....

To clarify, the reagent cap is 999 per reagent item, not total reagents.

To answer your question 'why'.... well KI never gives out info regarding internal software design or programming. But a simple silly answer: just look at the reagents in you backpack! You can't physically fit a 4-digit number in the little circle that indicates how many you have. They would obviously need to rework the graphics to allow 4-digit numbers. But more seriously, there must be some sort of limit (from a program design point of view), and 999 is quite reasonable.

How many mushrooms can you really fit in a backpack anyway?

@Dragon Yeah that's kinda what I was guessing but I wanted to confirm it as well

@Rotten Yes I did, in the Dorms section I believe, at said time I did believe that there was a 1000max cap in place for total reagents. Obviously I was seriously wrong on that point

@Raven I did take my time in Marleybone, it worked quite well. but the points where I kept getting pulled in would be where I'm slowly following one enemy to make sure I don't get forced into battle, only to have one spawn right behind me and force me into a fight.

To those who posted, thanks for clearing up my (massive) misconception. Now there's no more confusion for me and I realize it must've been a glitch that the items didn't get picked up.
