As we all know, high-level PVP is a mess with the lack of in-game timers, existence of Shatter and Elucidate TC, and Jade gear, to name only a few problems. So I wanted to highlight some of the most unbeatable strategies ever to exist in PVP, which absolutely need to be changed for the rest of us to have a real chance at winning against them. Starting with this one.
The Angel Strategy: Most prevalent with Life wizards, it is extremely simple to implement, terribly difficult to win against from first, and next to impossible to win against from second. How it works: Jade gear, heal boost, Guardian Spirit, Sanctuary, heal spam, blade / trap stack, Shatter, hit. When a Satyr does 2600+ without Sanctuary, and 4200+ with Sanctuary, the only way to beat an opponent with 78+% Incoming and 84+% Outgoing healing is to OHKO. Heal suppression with Doom / Infection helps, but unless one can pack more Dooms than their Sanctuaries / Heals it merely delays the inevitable.
Notwithstanding overcoming the deck limitations arising from being able to stack enough blades and traps to OHKO 60+% resistance and 6100+ while remaining able to defeat traditional opponents, it still won't matter because under Sanctuary Guardian will revive this type of opponent back up to 3700+ health. As shield spam is a noted characteristic of Jades / Jade wannabes, you will have to carry more Shatters than your opponent's Guardian Spirit cards. (Or you can train that 6 Pip Earthquake and hope that you can hit 6100+ damage [through a shield if you're second] with that rank 4 spell the turn afterwards).
But since Shatter is only available in main deck for wizards, this is effectively impossible to do for all the other schools, as 8+ Guardian Spirit cards + 13 Reshuffles = way more Shatters than anyone can fit in their main deck, let alone in their side deck.
This is effectively an unbeatable strategy, and the only real counter is to train Vaporize and Myth Dispel spam them to lock them out of ever being able to hit, which at the end of the day still won't cut it because PVP matches can last indefinitely, so it will merely become a question of who runs out of cards first or who has to leave first.
I question the logic of ever introducing a card such as Guardian Spirit into the PVP world, and demand something is actually done about this.
At this moment I have come up with 3 solutions: Ban Guardian Spirit from PVP altogether, including item cards (the best choice), introduce PVP timers so that long-running matches end in a tie or win / loss based on damage dealt (which should happen anyway), or make it so that everyone can have access to Guardian Spirit without sacrificing the rest of their stats (the worst fix).
For those of you that PVP, I would be interested to hear how you go about actually defeating Jade / Semi-Jade Angels, regardless of your school of choice. Myth and Storm, I would imagine, are the best suited to win against them.
