I think it would be a cool idea to be able to search in a friends list instead of scrolling all the way through the list making it much easier to find the friend you were looking for. This would also be good for deleting friends as well. Off topic here but the friends list should also Not refresh to the top each time you delete someone or are scrolling through it as it makes it much harder to clean up a list and check the list.
The game really needs this. The friends list should also include information about when the player was last online. It makes deleting so much easier. The friend list should also include info about when/where/how you met the friend (or you can makes notes yourself in-game) That way, when your friend list fills up, and a friend you don't recognize speaks to you, then you won't have to go through the awkward phase of remembering how you know this person. For example, I know some friends better than others, but they're not exactly best friends, so I'd hate to get them mixed up.
This is incredibly relevant, as I was facing the same issue earlier trying to clean up my friends list. I like the idea of being able to scroll through rather than clicking through and having to do the same thing over and over again.
I think the search option would be good but it should be that you don't have to use it. As for your scrolling Idea I agree 100% that is such an annoying problem. I also think that there should be a back button so if you look at a friend you can go back to the friend list without exiting out of everything.
I especially agree with issue of the screen refreshing when you're deleting names from the list. I tend to accept all friend requests and my list fills rapidly with people I never hear from again so about once every few weeks I have to thin out my list. I can easily spend 5 to 10 minutes scrolling and re-scrolling through the list as I delete names. It is frustrating to have to start at the top of the list again after every deletion. In lieu of the screen not refreshing perhaps a system could be implemented similar to the fish selling screen. You scroll through the list and select all the names you want to delete and then click a final button to complete the action thus removing all of the names you've selected in one fell swoop. (And for those who are going to say this could result in accidentally deleting someone you don't intend to delete... pay attention)

This is an extremely good idea, especially the last online thing, I find myself wondering so many things when trying to delete friends! I try not to delete those that have been on recently and its really hard to know that!
