give players the ability to hide their stats at all times
it's really none of the other players business what someone's stats are. What their gear is actually called, how much their damage stat is, or anything else.
Unless they want other players to see it, of course.
All other MMORPGs out there have an option to make player stats private, please add one in to Wizard101.
Not only is it no one's business how much damage someone can do, how much accuracy they have, or any other stat, it can cause some serious problems.
People look at a storm, decide that storm's damage is lower than they would personally prefer, and refuse to allow them to be part of a team for a hard boss.
Or they look at a fire, see that the fire has high damage, and expect them to do all the work while they just sit and pass

If you were unable to see the stats of other players, then it would be hard to tell what role they'll be playing in battle. When you see someone run 70%+ resist and 100%+ outgoing, it's pretty clear they'll be running a support role. It would take much more time to ask everyone what they're going to do and having to argue about designating a hitter when anonymous stats are in effect.
Re: give players the ability to hide their stats at all times
This is honestly a good idea but it will create a lot of problems too. A Lot of newer/inexperienced players and trolls will be part of a team up and want to be the hitter. if you can't see their stats and you boost them and it turns out there stats are really bad, you'll end up wasting a lot of time. Like let's say in the last three battles of catacombs you have a player who's been carried by someone else in the whole game (has happened in a catacombs team up i was in) and is now in team up alone, they're a fire wizard and want to be the hitter. Ofc fire are usually hitters so your team might agree and buff them up in a battle that takes an hour maybe more depending on your team and in the end their attack does way less damage than you expect, it wouldn't be fair to the other three players then. Plus it'll also become harder to help newer players who hide their stats because you can't tell what their stats are or what gear they have so you can't give them suggestions on what the best gear is or what stats they might be lacking on.
A solution to this could be making stats unhidden when you're in a party or when you're in a dungeon with other people but hiding at all times might cause a lot of problems.

That, or it sounds like you need more damage
>If you were unable to see the stats of other players, then it would be hard to tell what role they'll be playing in battle.< The opposition does not NEED to know that and should not, in fact, know that. But that's for PVP.

it shouldn't create any problems.
It should never have been possible for other players to see your stats - and just because everyone's gotten used to being able to invade privacy, that doesn't mean it should go on.
people shouldn't be making an assumption like you said - that you have to see someone's stats to know if you should boost them or let them be the hitter or anything else. Other's shouldn't make a decision on what part of a team they're going to put someone on just because they can see their stats - they don't have to play the way their stats seem to them to be and they shouldn't be assuming they are
Player's don't need to see new players stats to help them, either. you can simply talk to them about the bazaar and how to upgrade gear and then let them take the responsibility to do so or not.
The solution is to make it possible for people that don't want nosy snoops, regardless of their reason for being a nosy snoop, not to be able to see their stats. Ever.

Not once was PVP mentioned in your original message or my message. Regardless, if you were able to hide your stats, then people could EASILY troll and grief other players by lying about their stats.
Also, I have NEVER seen anyone else care about their stats being seen by others, so this idea would seem unnecessary for the vast majority of players.

I disagree with this suggestion. As many others have said, seeing other players' stats is super important when fighting with others. If you don't like being told that you can't join a team because your stats aren't good, then maybe consider getting better gear instead of trying to make it harder for teams to work together. Also, the problem of someone "sitting and passing" won't go away if they can't see others' stats. If there is a hitter on a team, then the other players will usually help support or tank.
This suggestion would cause more problems than it solves (and I don't think it would even solve any problems to begin with).
