there's no way to tell the game you don't want pips conserved, and at the higher levels, all the good gear have really high chances to make you conserve and gain the white pip.
We work very hard to make sure we have all power pips - and when a pip gets conserved, now we're stuck with a pip spot being taken up with a regular pip instead of a power pip
This forces us to have to carry around single pip spells to cast just to get rid of it. That uses up an action and takes up room in our spell decks - both of which we shouldn't have to deal with
We need a way to tell the game "no, do NOT conserve pips, I don't care how well you roll the chance to do so" so we don't have to deal with this nonsense if we don't' want to.
Pip conserve is a nice function in the game, especially playing solo. Though it rarely is an issue depending on playstyle, since usually spells are cast before max pips. However, an expansion onto this system could be nice if it allows powerpips to return if our rating is high enough.
The only instance where a pip conserve is harmful is if it causes you to get to max pips, and then you end up not converting the pip to a power pip the next turn. In PvE, you almost never are at max pips, so this problem is basically nonexistent. In PvP, the benefit of having an additional pip is huge: it's literally a free pip to let you do better combos (for instance, if you have 8 pips as a fire, you could use a hephaestus, get a pip conserve, then be able to use fire from above the next turn). If you don't like it, then just run gear without pip conserve; most F2P gear doesn't have it, and the base level of pip cconserve gives you an extremely miniscule chance of conserving. Or, just run high pip conserve so that you will more frequently convert those white pips into power pips at max pips.
