It doesn't make them "challenging" or anything, it just makes them annoying. Especially when they can just stack -45% and -50% shields meaning you do like, 2 damage if you aren't invested completely in pierce. I regularly flee from dungeon fights involving ice mobs after they die so I can restock my cards and not have to deal with shield spam
