Didn't get any help (unless it just wasn't posted yet) but i finally beat him! if anyone else is looking for tips i had my brothers fire character load up on DoT spells and fire at him too keep the cheat away.
Yes, that is the key -- you have to do damage to him every round. With a fire wizard, put a ton of fire elf spells in deck, and other low level spells, and other Damage over Time spells. He is actually easy if you do it this way.
and need tips for defeating the boss belloq (the one in the tent). its really tough with,
