Untill you are high level you know you are a student wizard right? Ambrose and Moolinda may be tossing off spells with no fizzles but you are a student. Did you get every single algebra question right the first time you cracked a book?
It is also a game balance issue. If a storm wizard never fizzled the game would be 95% storm wizards and a 5% mix of everything else. Life magic does not have hard hitter spells but they are very very accurate, you hit more but not for as much. A storm wizard hits like a cyclops on a fourty day caffine binge, but not very often.
You can get gear and spells to up your accuracy rate, generally not by much but it is out there.
make some treasure cards using "Keen Eyes", it will increase that spells casting by 10 percent.Several schools also have spells that you can cast to increase a spells chance to hit.
