Go to My Accounts > enter the parental password (if it's been enabled).
Once you do that, you should have access to configure the following:
* Chat - Filtered Text (OFF = Only Menu Chat)
* Chat - True Friends Code: (OFF = Cannot accept nor have open chat with "real" world friends)
* Parental Controls: (OFF = You, as the parent relinquish control of any further changes (psst! don't do it!).
After you confirm your account settings on the website, it's time to confirm them in game. Click on your Spellbook > Options > GamePlay Options > Chat Balloons. This will allow you to see others (or not) chat bubbles vs just having the text box to read.
To actually chat in game, hit the enter key & you'll be presented with the text box. Start typing & hit enter to "speak".
Couple things to remember: Just because you CAN type something, doesn't mean you should. Please review the Terms of Use if you are in doubt. Most especially, DO NOT GIVE OUT PASSWORDS (ever)!!!!!!! And kindly, don't swear, "flocks are for birds, not dirty words!"
