The Final Countdown is the last quest in Dragonspyre Academy~ to get it, you must have completed all previous main storyline quests in the Atheneum and Necropolis, as well as those in other areas of the Academy (the Forum and Crystal Grove). Then, Ashley the Fire Tree will give you the dragonrider staff quest~ you must collect ALL 9 obsidian chests (they are all over the Spiral and marked on your map~ press M to view), then turn that quest in before you can face Malistaire.

It's also suggested that you be at least level 45, and to take friends with you. It can be soloed, but expect to die a lot... LOL.

If you don't have the quest, it's because you missed one of the prerequisites.
