Whenever I try to move a pet from one character to another using the shared bank, as soon as i pick it up from the bank I lose all of my energy. I have tried moving items with other items and other pets, and it seems to be only pets that make me lose my energy. I don't know what is happening

Whenever you transfer a pet from one character to another, your energy is drained because that way you can't make a bunch of disposable wizards for free energy.
Yes, that's what happens when you move a pet from the shared back to your backpack. It even tells you that you will lose all your energy when you do so. Unfortunate, but that's how they made it.
