Battle potions

Why are the potions in the bottom left of the screen called battle potions if you cant use them in battle?

That's the first time that I heard them called battle potions.

I just thought they were called potions, or potion flasks. Here is some info:

It's just a name, I guess. But you can use them after battle, so they are battle prepare or after battle potions. I'm not really sure.
