I find that when I max out at the highest level, I tend to loose interest in the game. Could it be possible that we earn some kind of reward for doing quests or finishing a world after we have reached the highest level?

I stop questing when I cap. My balance wizard does both main and side quests, and she had so much xp banked from Azteca that she hit level 95 in less than a week.
My other wizards don't do side quests, so they get further in the story. My necromancer is level 90 and still has to do Xibalba before he can move on, and Storm just hit 89, so she will be finishing AZ shortly. When my first wizard caps out at max level, I use it as an opportunity to work on my other wizards.
