I have a recipe that needs fish fins and scales. Scales need fish fins to transmute. However, to transmute fish fins it takes scales!! If I had either one I would not need to transmute. Is their a solution to this conundrum?

You are missing the point. I was reporting what I think is a bug in the transmute process. Also, to purchase all the scales and fins I need in the Bazaar would be ridiculously expensive. Which is why I was looking at the possibility of transmuting one or both for less gold (or crowns).

It's not a bug
And as far as expensive...
Try sunstones, Turquoise, or any number of other hard to find reagents.
It's the way the game works.
Find a plant that harvests them, or look up a spot to farm them
Or, build a good gold store, and buy em from teh Bizaar

I hope this helps
