I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone mention this but the other day I was running my Death wiz through a couple of Loremaster runs to try (for the -insert ridiculously high number here- time) to get the Deer Knight spell drop when, out of the blue, the weakness font hit me with Mana Burn! Maybe this is something that has always been there and I've just never seen it before but honestly, this was the first time . And I've since seen it a few more times. Kudos(?) to KI for adding(?) something to make this instance just a bit more challenging for higher level wizards. It's one thing to gear up for a big hit and get stuck with a Plague or Virulent Plague, which can typically be powered through, but now you can get Mana Burned and lose your pips. Nice.
I tried many times for that spell on my death and prolly the last loremaster run for me I got the myth spell.. at any rate the reason for my response to you is why not just craft the spell like I did. and if your short on deer tc's I have enough should you decide to go that route unless you prefer the trials and tribulations of umpteen hours of farming lol just a thought

Thanks, I appreciate the offer. Fortunately, I actually enjoy farming the Loremaster so I wasn't really complaining about the time Ii spend farming her. She's a good source for a steady supply of sellable items and TCs and it's a good spot to work on the Team Leader badge through the Team-Up kiosk. As far as crafting the spell, I have stacks of the TC so they aren't the problem, it's the Amber. I have all of the other components to craft it but I'm short the Amber even though I also farm the various bosses that are known to drop it. I have a huge crop of Red Bell Peppers ready to go elder and I'm hoping for some Amber drops with them. I know what you mean about getting the "wrong" spell drop...my experience is the opposite of yours. I've been running my Myth wiz at her for quite a while trying for the Keeper of the Flame spell and got Deer Knight my last time through!

It's always been there, it's just rare for the font to ever have enough pips to cast it. It's one of the dangers in using stuns and smoke screens on the font. It's usually casting 1-3 pip spells so it never gets up to 5 pips without fizzles or being stunned.
