I think you're taking this way to serious/literally.
Who knows or even cares why KI chose the colors they did. The are just fine.
And what's wrong with purple? Choose another school or dye the clothes if it bothers you that much.

As Ravenlady777 said, I think you're trying to be too literal (something I'm often guilty of myself). Besides, how does Red stand for balance? Red, usually a color for love, or blood, or rage; none of which are neutral. As for Myth with blue and yellow, I can see that actually. Blue and Gold are often thought of as royal colors, or colors that show significance (and no, they're not the only ones). Just my $.02 USD anyhow

If you look out your window and see a purple sky, that could mean that there will be heavy storm the next day. Although, it may just be a simple change in color because of the way the light from the sun is reflecting off of rain, sleet, snow, etc.

However, from a Spiritual perception this means that there was widespread death somewhere in the World. After major death occurs (hundreds, thousands) either the same day or the following day you'll see a fuschia colored or purplish-red sky. This sky is most visible at dusk (afternoon to dark).

Since Storm is a strong school focused on power the death part might go along with that.

This would account for why myth is blue. Myth is based on imagination which is a higher mental faculty.
