I feel like this is sort of a scam. Gold rates need to be changed it costs 10k crowns for 25k gold which I can make in less then a half hour at halfarg. I dont want to see a new wizard end up spending 10k crowns for 25k gold

What are you talking about? Nothing in this game is a scam. You have the choice of hurrying along with actual cash (crowns) or earning gold. Gold can easily be earned by selling drops, reagents, etc.
