Why do spectral minions replace regular minions?

Any minion replaces any other minion. You get the most recent one cast.

Why are they the same? Isn't spectral minions balance, and regular are school based? Shouldn't they use another slot?

Uh special minions isn't a term, either way minions of all schools replace the minion your currently using.
Only way to get more then one is if you have 2 wizards both using 1 minion each

That's not a spelling error. There is such a card as "Spectral Minion." It's a balance card that gives a random fire, ice, or storm minion.

For instance, you have your regular fire minion, and you draw a spectral minion which is a storm minion. This would require another slot.
