Earning exact amount of arena tickets?.

Hello. I have started to battle in the arena. I noticed that when I lose I get 2 tickets and the other opponent gets up to 16 at times. When I win the most I ever got was 4. Is there something I am doing wrong? How do I get to the point of earning more then 4 when I win? Please help. Thank you.

At private, you get 4 for winning and 2 for losing. You get more tickets when you rank up.
