Nooby question for Diviners :(

Hiya!

Sorry about the nooby question but it's just been tearing at me ; ;

Diviners, in terms of PvE and "end-game" Colossal or Extraordinary? Some guides say Colossal, some say Extraordinary. . .
For reference, here's the total stats for the gear I plan on getting that are relevant:
• +88% Storm Damage
• +15% Storm Accuracy
• +15% Universal Pierce

Some may think the answer is obvious but in terms of those stats a Thunderbird (for example) spell would have 70% + 15% = 85% Accuracy and 15% Pierce with just the gear I plan on getting, so when comparing the two spells:

Extraordinary:
Example (Gear+Extraordinary): Thunderbird, 115% accuracy, 1,000 min damage, 30% pierce
Theoretical damage: Gear(88%), Galvanic Field(25%), Sharpened Elemental Blade(40%), Elemental Blade (30%), Sharpened Storm Blade(40%), Storm Blade(30%), Potent Feint(80%), Feint(70%)
Total damage: about 23,819

Colossal
Example (Gear+Colossal): Thunderbird, 85% accuracy, 1,000 min damage, 15% pierce
Theoretical damage: Gear(88%), Galvanic Field(25%), Sharpened Elemental Blade(40%), Elemental Blade (30%), Sharpened Storm Blade(40%), Storm Blade(30%), Potent Feint(80%), Feint(70%)
Total damage: about 30,369

So with all that in mind, should I sacrifice 7,000 damage with Thunderbird just so I can get it working 100% of the time with Extraordinary or be able to dish out 30,000 damage (not including crit) but with a 15% chance of fizzling in terms of Colossal?

Sorry about the long post, and thank you for reading!

For PvE. every school should train every Sun damage enchantment to Colossal as soon as you can.

Extraordinary is rarely of use questing. You are seldom hitting through resist, and when you are, Infallible, Shrike, and pierce from equipment do the job while letting you boost damage with your Sun spell.

Thunderbird can't be enchanted with either, since it's a transformation to begin with.

Generally accuracy isn't a problem at higher levels because there's lots of gear that boosts it considerably. Go for damage for PvE. PvP is a bit different. Since most players have universal resist, pierce becomes more valuable in the arena.

I see! Thank you so much Prince of Shadows for the clarification! And sorry, I meant Thunder Owl, why do I keep saying Thunderbird = =
