When you purchase a gift certificate it should ask you the email of the person you wish to send it to. You can even send one to yourself if you want to. If one has been sent to you from another person, you should only have to check your own email. The gift certificate just contains the code of the item that needs to be redeemed as well as a short message to/from whoever is receiving/sending the gift certificate.

Login on the Wizard101 website, then click on the Buy Crowns option. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the Gifts Certificate option. When you purchase a gift certificate, you will be given a code. That code can be redeemed on any account and will give that person the items that you bought.
