Hey guys, I'm currently questing through Zafaria on my level 72 Death (currently in Stone Town) and was concerned about how long my current gear can last me. I know that the game gets considerably harder at around Avalon if I don't have proper gear, and I wanted to make sure that I don't fall behind. My current gear is:
Full Waterworks set (Hat, Robe, Boots)
Black Spinnel of Battle (Ring) Shango's Deathblade Amulet Lexicon Blade (Athame) And some random Life wand I picked up.
As for a pet, it's just a Scarecrow pet that I got from a quest and trained to Adult, doesn't really do all that much.
I have not completed the Dragonspyre crafting quest yet because I am finding it very hard to do so, getting the Blood Moss and all, so I'm unable to craft anything as of now. I have also never done Jewel socketing.
So, what do you guys think? Am I fine for now? Or should I consider getting anything else now or in the future? Thanks.
You may want to hatch with someone to get a new pet. It may take a while but try to get one with two damage talents and spell proof at least.
I used to have that ring and I used it up to level 90, which is when I switched to the Alpha and Omega ring from the Gladiator in Aquila (I still have it at level 120 actually)
The deathblade amulet can be used until you get the Morganthe amulet at level 100.
The athame can be used until you get the Blade of the Felled Titan from Chronus at level 90, and later switch to Lord of Death's Razor at level 100.
The wand is up to you. Whether you want a higher critical rating or higher block rating or both, just pick one you think suits you best. But when you get it, use the Malistaire wand.
Unfortunately, those boots aren't going to last very long. In Avalon, it's important to have a good block rating to keep you from dying before you can drain your enemies' health. You have to craft the boots from the Wild and later the Bright Wing boots from Azteca.
Blood moss is dropped from Pink Dandelions, which drop from enemies in Krokotopia (pretty easy to get actually). You can also transmute them from red mandrakes.

Most people use Waterworks gear until level 100 where they can start farming Darkmoor for gear, so you are fine at the moment.
At level 90, you can do Tartarus to get Hades gear, but it isn't that much of an upgrade to Waterworks gear. Most people just skip it and wait until level 100. However, I strongly recommend you do Tartarus anyway, because it's my favorite dungeon and I love doing it whenever I have the chance :P
Crafting is important as it offers a reliable way to get good gear. I suggest you try really hard to get the Blood Moss, as crafting will pay off in the long run.
I would recommend you complete your crafting quests to get some better boots when you reach Avalon/Azteca. The crafted boots have more critical block than the Waterworks set has. Otherwise, most people wear the Waterworks hat and robe until level 90 (Tartarus) and/or level 100 (Darkmoore).
The easiest way to get reagents for basic crafting is gardening. Pink Dandelions and Fickle Pickles will give you most of the reagents you need - you just have to be dedicated about visiting your garden every day. Dandelions have a 10 day life span and drop 2-3 reagents at elder, including Blood Moss. Fickle Pickles have a 7 day life span and will drop diamonds and sunstones, both reagents that are difficult to gather.
Waterworks gear, in all honesty, is set to last to you level 90 or even till Darkmoor. Just hit 90, do Tartarus once or twice for the dungeon exp, see if you get Hade's gear, then just grind till level 100 for the Malistaire gear. For Death, I'm not too sure but I'm pretty sure both the Krokopatra hat and the Rattlebones robe are better than the Malistaire ones. So if you don't to farm the Graveyard for ages, I recommend doing the Krok exalted and Rattle exalted for the gear in advance. Good luck!
Thanks guys, I really appreciate the advice. I was wondering if I could get by without crafting, but I'll try now. I'll be sure to try gardening for the Blood Moss.
