If you think you know the true story of Wizard City and the Spiral...
You don't. Just admit it. You really don't. You may know some of it from my post about my wizard, Samantha Dreamweaver, but that's pretty much it, and there are a lot of unanswered questions from that, and even the story of the game itself. But I know what actually happened, and I hope that they add this backstory to the beginning of the game, because for some people like me, it would make really happy, because there's a bunch that is not revealed, and not too much is revealed in game, so, I will be making a story of the Spiral, per say.
So, let us begin with the story...

In the beginning, there was nothing. No worlds, no stars, nothing but a whole lot of nothingness. Then, all of the sudden, there was something: The Spiral
A galaxy filled with millions of planets, and billions more stars inside of it. It was full to the brim, per say. Creatures of all shapes, sizes, and species roamed and lives in harmony together. Not with the wars of creatures you would see today. But in peace. Near the center of the Spiral was a planet that represented purity, beauty, and most importantly… home. This world was called Wizard City.
In this world, the tallest buildings could be climbed, and legend had it that if you looked abroad from the top, you could see the entire Spiral and all of its contents. The leader of this world was the most famous wizard of all time, and the most powerful: Merlin. His apprentice was named Merle Ambrose. And in all of this, Merlin and his apprentice were proud of what they had accomplished, creating this world. The buildings in this world were covered in silver, gold, and bronze metals. So rare to others, but oh, so common to this world. It was more beautiful than I could possibly describe in words. You would have to have seen it for yourself. The Spiral itself remained at the edge of the known universe, and all of the beings which resided in it wanted only harmony and calmness. Nothing more than that.

But everyone knows that age-old saying…
When there is light…
There must be…
A darkness.

Of all of the wizards who resided in Wizard City, there is a single one who will always be remembered: Katherine. She was the most famous archaeologist of her time - perhaps ever - and had traveled to every one of the three million, seven hundred fifty-three thousand, eight hundred fifty-two worlds in the Spiral before she died.
But the last world would bring her end.
Invicticus was the name of that planet. Katherine had been searching for very strange, ancient and powerful relics, and placing them in a vault under Wizard City. She could solve nearly every puzzle or problem that came her way at the speed of a finger snap.
But she couldn’t solve her way out of Invicticus.
She had found a great and ancient temple in the deepest part of the planet she could get to. Inside, Katherine found what she was looking for: A vase with symbols all over its sides, its lid, and its handle. As Katherine was curious, she ordered her team to take themselves, her and the vase back to Wizard City.
This would be her fatal mistake.
Because as she opened the vase inside of her lab, a powerful and evil demon named Invictus was released. It told Katherine about its amazing powers and magnificence and offered to give her wisdom and power in exchange for her trust. And, as Katherine was curious to a fault, she accepted, and the demon navigated its way into Katherine’s soul.
By the day, Katherine’s soul turned darker and darker, along with her heart. Her manner changed drastically, but no one really noticed it except for one person: Merlin. But as he was a passive man, he waited to see what she would do.
This would be the downfall of Wizard City.

Invictus had changed Katherine for the worst, and by making his move on Wizard City, finding and striking fear into Merlin and making him disappear off the face of the planet, corrupting the creatures of the City and mutating them into unrecognizable states, killing off over two-thirds of the population and crystallizing their blood and having it appear all over town, it made Katherine something we only know today as one name: Calamity.
As Calamity and Invictus swallowed Wizard City into a seemingly eternal darkness, they got more powerful and started their conquest. Every day, the devilish duo conquered and destroyed one hundred thousand worlds, all for more power and the pleasure of preying on the weak.
But there was one man who had a solution to all of this. One man could save the Spiral: Merle Ambrose. Apprentice of Merlin.
Ambrose led the remainder of the population of the City into the world known as Cerentious, which he created from his own magic. We now know it as Wizard City.
Ambrose could see that day by day, Calamity and Invictus were getting ever so closer to Cerentious. So, he scoured the remaining worlds for anything that could possibly help with the current situation.
Eventually, he did. He found…
The Stone.

It had different colors and hues, representing each of the seven elements, and those colors are as follows: Tan, maroon, purple, yellow, blue, green, red and black. Each of these colors gleamed when Ambrose took hold of it, but as he neared Cerentious, the colors glew more intensely.
The Stone had brought him to a specific one of his students: Jasper Daylight. He had been one of Merlin’s most trusted and had risked his life evacuating the people of the Old Wizard City, as they then called it. When Jasper took hold of it, the Stone shone brighter than ever before, nearly ten thousand times that of the midday sun. It went inside of Jasper’s chest and filled his mind with knowledge of past events beyond our imagination and powers just like it. He became the Stone Master.
Jasper could hardly comprehend most of the information he had just received, but he could comprehend this: The elements had to have masters.
If you are someone who resides in the Spiral, you should know the elements. The elements are as follows: Fire, Ice, Storm, Myth, Life, Death, and Balance. Jasper and Ambrose spoke, and the latter told the other to create the seven Masters and infuse them with the colored pieces of the Stone: Scarlet of Fire, Grace of Ice, the unknown Master of Storm, Mark - ugh - of Myth, Mary of Life, Destiny of Balance, and - to Ambrose and Jasper’s dismay - Katherine of Death. After the Masters were created and infused with the pieces, the seven Masters, Ambrose and Jasper laid siege on Wizard City.

(By the way, this is the shortest of all of the chapters in the story, and the final one. Hope you've enjoyed!)

Wizard City did not look like it did when Jasper and Ambrose had escaped. All of the towering buildings had been crystallized, the product of a powerful, magic known as Crimson. The reason it was banned is not that wizards could not use it, but because the magic was so uncontrollable. The area around them, no matter how long they stayed, was eternal night, the product of another magic known as Eclipse. Creatures, completely deformed and unrecognizable, stood in the paths of our heroes every now and again. But they defeated the creatures, knocking them out. But no matter hard they tried, they could not kill the creatures.

When they faced Calamity, she took all of them down, except for Ambrose and Jasper, who held their own.
If Ambrose knew one thing about Invictus from Merlin, it was that all of its creations - and it - could not die. But Calamity could. As he did not want to risk Katherine’s death, he and the Masters pooled their energy and Jasper’s into a blast so powerful and strong it sent Calamity and all of her creations into another Universe. A locked dimension. But the Old Wizard City went with them. This dimension is now only known as The Other Side.
The day was won, but soon after, the Stone Master disappeared. Never to be seen again. Not for a very, very long time.
