There are hundreds of spells in the game, each with unique effects, different stats, and amazing animations. But I feel like there are some missed opportunities with these spells in terms of said animations, especially for alternate versions of pre-existing spells (such as Ash Bats or Jolted Snowman). These are some ideas I have for the development team, which describe new and updated animations that could be given to some of these spells. These wouldn't affect the actual gameplay, but would simply be an ascetic difference. I would love to hear from someone in the design team to see what they think, and I'd love to hear from other players to hear any ideas y'all have!
- Thunder Serpent: For the animation where it spins around the target and disappears, I think it should spin rather sporadically, in an almost zig-zag kind of motion, so it looks more like lightning!
- Leprechaun: How about it throws the entire pot as another animation? It turns around, grabs the pot, spins three times, and lets go on the third spin.
- Thunder Wyvern: The spikes that pop up are straight. Why not make them look like lightning bolts? Could add to the lightning ascetic.
- Jolted Snowman: I think, instead of snow, the body should be made of thunderclouds (so it would be more "puffy"). And instead of the snow falling near the hat, it would rise up around it instead. Storm is typically depicted with storm clouds, so I thought it would make sense to incorporate that into this spell. The dagger should be lightning-shaped also. (this is the last time I say "make it bolt-shaped").
- Ice Kraken: Snowflakes are typically depicted as 4 lines, and each line has a V-shape on either end. Currently, the Ice Kraken throws a lightning bolt. I thought it would be cool if it instead threw one of those lines with the Vs on either end. If this is too complicated (or if I explained it poorly), what if he threw an icicle instead?
- Scarecrow: In my opinion, it would be neat if the scarecrow absorbed the blue stuff from all the opponents at once through its mouth. Then, the crow on it's shoulder would turn around and fire the stolen health from its beak to the caster. After all, the crow's the one calling the shots!
- Myth Imp: When it spins around the target, I think it would be neat if it just kinda bobbed up and down a little bit. It would add to the spell's playfulness, something Wizard 101 is great at showcasing!
- Dark Sprite: In a way, Dark Sprite is the opposite of the Sprite spell, which is very similar to the spell Pixie. So what if one of it's animations was the same as Pixie's? Also, I think the actual Dark Sprite should vanish into more purple dust when the spell is over.
- Thunder Scarab: I feel it should be renamed to "Electro-Scarab", just cause it sounds kinda neato.
- Mander Minion: I think the Mander should be green (I know this might be a difficult thing to change). Orange Manders are closely connected to Fire, Purple to Storm, and Blue to Ice. Since Green Manders aren't shown with any school of magic, I think it would make the most sense for them to represent Balance.
Again, these ideas wouldn't change the skills and power of the spells, but would be animation updates exclusively. What do you all think?
